Shakira
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, commonly known as Shakira, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer. She was born on February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Shakira started her musical career at a very young age. She wrote her first song, "Tus Gafas Oscuras" (Your Dark Glasses), at the age of eight and signed her first record deal at the age of 13 with Sony Music Colombia. Her debut album, "Magia," was released in 1991, but it was not commercially successful. Her second album, "Peligro," was released in 1993, but it failed to gain any significant attention.
In 1995, Shakira released her third album, "Pies Descalzos" (Bare Feet), which became a commercial success in Latin America and Spain. The album sold over five million copies worldwide and produced hit singles such as "Estoy Aqui" (I'm Here) and "Dónde Estás Corazón?" (Where Are You, My Heart?). Her fourth album, "¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?" (Where Are the Thieves?), released in 1998, was even more successful, selling over seven million copies worldwide and earning Shakira her first Latin Grammy Award.
In 2001, Shakira released her first English-language album, "Laundry Service," which became a global success, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. The album included hit singles such as "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes." Her subsequent albums, "Fijación Oral, Vol. 1" (Oral Fixation, Vol. 1) and "Fijación Oral, Vol. 2" (Oral Fixation, Vol. 2), released in 2005, were also successful, earning her several Grammy Awards.
Shakira's music is a fusion of Latin, Arabic, and rock elements, and she is known for her unique voice and energetic performances. She has sold over 70 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time.
